I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT, LCMFT) in Maryland, Virgina and the District of Columbia. I have over 20 years experience in the mental health field. I obtained my undergraduate degree from James Madison University and my Masters degree from Northern Illinois University.
My professional history includes experience providing therapy and therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families and groups in a variety of settings including in a university faculty staff assistance program, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a community outpatient mental health center, a county-based foster care system, public and private school systems, a group practice and currently as the owner of the private practice, Maternal Wellness Services.
I have a deep compassion for all mothers and the challenges motherhood brings. After my own experience with two C-sections, including a traumatic birth that led to a hysterectomy, I became devoted to creating a practice specifically geared towards healing mothers. I want every woman to have the opportunity to have a caring and knowledgeable mental health professional available to hear her labor and delivery story, to provide screening and treatment for Postpartum Depression or related Perinatal Mood Disorders, and to provide caring support, therapeutic treatment and any referrals for additional support.
My continuing education includes a Maternal Mental Health Certificate, Training in Perinatal Mood Disorders and being a Certified Bringing Baby Home Educator. I regularly participate in trainings about Maternal Mental Health to stay abreast of information and research to help my clients. I am a member of Postpartum Support International and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, I have a Level 1 Trauma Training Certificate from the Ferentz Institute and completed a Professional Training with the Center for Mind Body Medicine. I am a Grief Certified Educator through my training with David Kessler. Finally, I am also a member of the DMV Maternal Mental Health Consortium group.
My education, professional trainings and experiences as a mother all provide the framework in providing you with the specialized care you need and deserve.
I look forward to hearing from you!
